The professional side

Nineteen years of shipping. Oslo on and off since 2014, for good since 2019. Backend and platform work on systems that fail loudly if you get them wrong.

Mumbai → Johannesburg → Delhi NCR → Oslo. Currently at Vend Marketplaces - the umbrella parent behind finn.no, blocket.se, tori.fi and dba.dk - on the messaging platform that all four brands run on.

Vend Marketplaces (formerly FINN.no)

Senior Software Engineer

Backend and platform work on Vend's messaging platform - four Nordic marketplaces (finn.no, blocket.se, tori.fi, dba.dk) on one codebase, ~30 microservices on Kubernetes. The part I keep coming back to: changes that start in one brand and break in four, where no single team owns the fix. On FINN.no we redesigned the messaging frontend around the seller, with conversations grouped by ad, so a seller with several ads sees who is asking about what in one place. I built the backend changes behind it, worked through the design decisions with the team, and built parts of the frontend in React, TanStack and Tailwind.

Lately, prototyping LLM features inside the messaging thread.

Company privacy policy and code of conduct keep the specifics off this page - LinkedIn has what I can share publicly.

Tata Consultancy Services - Posten Norge / Bring

Senior Developer → Technical Lead

Distributed Agile team building the logistics web platform for Posten Norge / Bring - 20+ Java web applications, 15–20 deploys a day, an in-house DevOps + monitoring framework we built because nothing off-the-shelf fit. A rotational posting from 2014 to 2019: a year in Oslo, then a year back in India, in turn. Test-code volume exceeded production-code volume, deliberately. Grew into team-lead responsibility. The high-cadence, delete-first engineering discipline I run on today started here.

Developer → Technical Architect → Technical Lead

First job. Three years of Java/J2EE financial platforms for two clients - TATA Capital and AXIS Bank. Mutual funds, fixed deposits, vendor reference data, a trading-portal CMS - the origin of the financial-platform work. Started as a developer and moved through the ranks quickly, to technical architect and then technical lead, on the back-office and reconciliation systems.

In their words

Four people, four different rooms.

Achint combines profound technical abilities with excellent architectural insight, domain knowledge and understanding of the user perspective. He is committed to quality engineering and continuous improvement, searching for ways to improve himself and the team every day. During our time together in FINN, Achint was a pillar in our team - primarily in the backend and devops space but contributing across the stack and really all over the place. He has the capabilities required for troubleshooting those hard production problems in pragmatic, efficient ways.

A software-engineer at heart. Always looking for ways to simplify and improve - be it the way of working or core Java. Adopting new technologies and sharing his knowledge comes natural to him. Hardworking, dedicated and a true team player.

I have worked with Achint last 4 years in Posten Norge AS, where Achint was a consultant through TCS. Achint has worked hard and made good deliveries all the time. As he became more experienced, he got more responsibility and ended up as teamlead for one of the teams. Achint managed this role as well, where he worked close with business to understand business needs and was able to break up tasks and give good deliveries through his team.

One of the smartest Java developers I have worked with. We collaborated on building a custom rules engine for a large university to automate their admission, enrollment, and progression rules. Achint designed and developed the rules engine from scratch and built an abstraction layer that provided an extremely well-designed user interface on top of the technical rules engine, allowing faculty admins to set up rules in English and test them on their own. His amazing work ethic ensured that he never missed a deadline.

Nineteen public repos. AI experiments, workshop material, and a few small frontend apps.

Before the code.

Three years of diploma, then three of the engineering degree. The diploma built the practical fundamentals, so the degree came lighter - maths, analytical thinking, and engineering drawing already in hand. That left student life mostly for the field and the band: captain of the university and engineering-faculty volleyball teams, vice-captain in football and basketball, on the athletics podium most years, lead drummer of the university band for three years. Leading teams and keeping time for other people, long before I did either in a codebase.

I still go back. I run mock interviews with Dayalbagh students to get them ready for their first jobs, give sessions on technology and where it’s heading, and stay active on the alumni channels.

Dayalbagh Educational Institute · Agra · Diploma + engineering degree · 2001–2007

A note on nineteen years.

The timeline reads clean. The work rarely was: 3am pages, migrations that ran long, plans that changed under us. That’s the experience I bring into the room.
